Interactive Tree Management System (ITMS)

Project details:

A Web-GIS powered solution designed to support forest ecosystem restoration and sustainable management. Developed at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology’s arboretum, the system integrates geospatial data with a robust PostgreSQL database to monitor tree health, tree locations, and species-specific growth parameters. By streamlining field data collection and visualization, it addresses key challenges in arboretum management—such as invasive species removal and reforestation—and offers a scalable approach for similar restoration projects. Ultimately, the project demonstrates how modern geospatial tools can drive effective biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
